3 ways brands can give back this GivingTuesday

3 ways brands can give back this GivingTuesday

Each Tuesday after Thanksgiving people around the globe participate in a non-official holiday known as GivingTuesday. Consumers and brands alike are encouraged to generously donate their time and energy to charitable causes in the spirit of giving back.

If you want to know more about how you can help spread the holiday spirit on GivingTuesday, you came to the right place. Here are three ways your brand can help participate this season.

1. Partner alongside local food banks, homeless shelters or other nonprofits

There are plenty of people in need this holiday season, and thankfully, there are designated organizations all over the world that make it their mission to help others. GivingTuesday is a great day to team up with youth organizations, local food banks, homeless shelters and other nonprofit groups to support the causes your brand cares about.

Aside from setting up a traditional volunteer event for your team, you can also donate portions of the proceeds you make during GivingTuesday to the group(s) you’ll be working with.

2. Match donations from customers / loyalty program members

Remember those groups we mentioned above? The more help they receive from generous donors like you, the more people they can serve. Collaborating isn’t just a great way for your business to show radical generosity — it’s also a great way to encourage support from consumers.

When consumers go to make their purchase, you can inform them by way of an online pop-up or an in-store employee that they have the opportunity to share their good fortune with the less fortunate. Customers can follow a prompt encouraging them to donate money to the organization of your choice. Once all donations have been received from customers, your brand will donate the same amount of dollars to the organization you collaborated with.

3. Donate your products/services

Have a product you think will benefit others? Donate your services for free in the name of kindness.

Helping feed the hungry or provide warm clothes to those bearing the cold during harsh winter months fits right in line with the nature of GivingTuesday. Sharing your services can help extend the reach of your business in ways that have a positive impact on surrounding communities.

What’s the point of having an abundance of resources if you don’t share them?

GivingTuesday may come around once a year, but by no means do you have to limit your generosity to 24 hours. Be sure to come back to this post anytime you want a reference point for supporting your community.
